Februllage 2023

I Am Expanding My Collage Making Horizons!

Apparently in February collage artists participate in the Februllage Challenge.  Being a glutton for punishment, I decided to give it a go.  I didn't start until February 10th, so I need to catch up.  Yesterday I completed Day 7:  Exit.  Paid Canva has been a lifesaver for me in this quest.  I prefer digital collage to paper collage and Canva has a library of legal to use graphics and images so I can just grab them and go.  Their background remover doesn't work on all of their images, but it is easier than GIMP and if I am determined to use a particular image I switch to GIMP.  For the first time I am experimenting with color.  Part of me feels like I am betraying my artistic aesthetic in favor of cheap color pop thrills, and the other part is enjoying playing with the eye catching nature of adding a splash of color.  It is easier to use some color to enhance the contrast, whereas when you are working purely in black and white.  I have completed the challenge!  I am so proud of myself.  Compared to Zinetober, Februllage went much more smoothly for me.  I had less moments being overwhelmed or worn out from artistic exhaustion.  I compiled my work into a zine.  The readable PDF is below!  As always thank you for reading my zine!
